I've just finished reading "L'Ecole des Femmes" de Moliere. It's a comedy, and a psychological study at the same time. Moliere wrote about a young woman's awakening to love, against the destiny that had been set for her more than 200 years before "women's lib". Acabo de terminar de leer "L'Ecole des Femmes" de Moliere. Es una comedia, y un estudio psicologico a la vez. Moliere escribio sobre el despertar al amor de una mujer joven, contra el futuro que el destino le habia preparado mas de 200 anos antes de la "liberacion femenina".

Con esta pintura del rio de montana de Cauterets, estoy celebrando mi llegada a Cauterets hace unos dias, y los seis meses de mi Blog diario, comenzado el 1ro. de febrero.


Only in France: There is a delicious fig marmelade called "Pope Balls". The story goes that in the year 1305, after the election of Pope Clement V, the Sacred College didn't want to make a mistake, due to certain Popes with affeminate traits, so they made Clement sit on a throne with holes. A cardinal was in charge of making sure he had all "his attributes", and after checking Clement, he declared, in Latin: "Clement has a good pair, and they hang like figs!" This is the reason for the name "pope balls" for figs from the XIV Century! Solo en Francia: Hay aqui una deliciosa mermelada llamada "Bolas de Papa". Segun la historia, en el ano 1305, luego de la eleccion del Papa Clemente V, El Sagrado Colegio no quiso cometer un error, debido a ciertos Papas afeminados, e hicieron sentar a Clemente en un trono agujereado. Un cardenal estaba a cargo de asegurarse que el Papa tuviera todos sus "atributos", y luego de tocar cuidadosamente a Clemente, el declaro, en latin: "Clemente tiene un buen par, y cuelgan como higos!" Esta es la razon del nombre "bolas de Papa" para los higos, desde el Siglo XIV!

California Girl

She was a waitress in a restaurant at Laguna Beach, California, when I saw her. Her beauty, bright colors and personal attitude struck me so, I asked her permission to photograph and sketch her. Este pastel fue exhibido en Imaginatiff, Francia, en el 2008. Ahora esta en la Galeria Bordenave, Francia. Ella era una servidora en un restaurante en Laguna Beach, California, cuando yo la vi. Su belleza, sus colores brillantes y actitud personal me llamaron mucho la atencion, y le pedi permiso para fotografiarla y dibujarla.

Highly respected, "le Griot" is a shaman, in some French speaking countries of Africa. He is wise and knowledgeable about plants, helping the sick of body and mind with his knowledge, his beliefs, his faith, and his common sense. Muy respetado, "le Griot" es un curandero inteligente y sabio, en algunos paises de habla frances en Africa. El es sabio, conoce mucho de plantas, y ayuda al enfermo de cuerpo y mente con su conocimiento, sus creencias, su fe, y su sentido comun.

Mucha's woman

Mucha's woman, is a quick pastel sketch I did in my art notebook last year, during my visit to the Alphonse Mucha art exhibit at the Salamanca Museum of Art, in Salamanca, Spain. This is a copy of a Mucha painting. Mujer de Mucha, es un pastel bosquejado rapidamente en mi cuaderno de notas de arte el ano pasado, durante mi visita a la exhibicion de Alphonse Mucha en el Museo de Arte de Salamanca, en Espana. Esta es una copia de una pintura de Mucha.


Alphonse Mucha was born in Tchekoslovakia, and triumphed in Paris in the 1920s and 30s. He applied a theatrical aspect to all his creations, so the public became an audience to his art. His work has beauty, and magnificence. Alphonse Mucha nacio en Tchecoslovakia, y triunfo en Paris en los anos 20 y 30. El aplicaba un aspecto teatral a todas sus creaciones, asi que el publico se transformaba en audiencia para su arte. Su trabajo tiene belleza, y magnificencia.

Alphonse Mucha: woman as enigma, beauty, and mystery. He also utilized enigmatic signs and metaphores in his paintings. Mucha was friends with Paul Gauguin and Strindberg. He made all the posters for Sarah Bernhardt in Paris, which contributed to the development of Art Nouveau. Alphonse Mucha: la mujer como enigma, belleza, y misterio. El tambien utilizaba signos enigmaticos y metaforas en sus pinturas. Mucha fue amigo de Paul Gauguin y Strindberg. El hizo todos los posters para Sara Berhardt en Paris, lo que contribuyo al desarrollo del Art Nouveau.

Continuing with Alphonse Mucha, and his exhibit I saw last year in Salamanca, Spain: He used "Woman" as an icon. They are elegant, sensual , seducing the viewer. In Mucha's works, woman is the catalizer and the personification of beauty. Continuando con Alphonse Mucha, y su exhibicion que vi el ano pasado en Salamanca, Espana: El usaba "la mujer" como icono. Ellas son elegantes, sensuales, seductoras. En la obra de Mucha, la mujer es el catalizador y la personificacion de la belleza.
