RECORDANDO A PIAZZOLA, watercolor on Arches

RECORDANDO A PIAZZOLA, watercolor on Arches paper, painted with a sponge and a credit card, 16x12". It doesn't sound possible to paint with a sponge and a credit card? It is not easy, but it is possible. The color was splashed and spread on the paper with the sponge, and the border of a credit card was used to make marks on the wet color, like for the  accordion, and some parts of the head of the player. Painted quickly, with secure strokes.

This painting is at the San Diego County Fair, in the DelMar Fairgrounds, till July 6. For sale, $450.-

At the Watercolor Biennial in Shenzhen, China, the need for international exchange was very strong, according to comments in the June issue of Watercolor magazine. There were people from all over the world. Linda Baker said: "I was moved not by the differences but by the sameness. We were one in the pursuit of art."

"People look for retreats for themselves, in the country, by the coast, or in the hills...There is nowhere that a person can find a more peaceful and trouble-free retreat than in his own mind...So constantly give yourself this retreat, and renew yourself."        --- Marcus Aurelius
