Butterfly III
Today I'd like to recommend the book: Mon Amour des Grandes Chemins (My Love of Great Roads) by Tom Carr. "Pilgrim, there is no road, you make it as you walk", is a line by Antonio Machado. Every day is a new day, we don't know what lies ahead for us, life happens as we go...take advantage of what life offers you, it may never happen again.

Nurturing Wildness...in you!: Wildness is the fuel. Improvisation brings out talent. To be creative, control freaks MUST let go. Control freaks are not visited by muses. Don't think: jump in. Work fast. Take risks. Play more. Draw, and draw and draw...and don't worry about it! No pienses: salta adentro. Trabaja rapido. Toma riesgos. Juega mas. Dibuja, dibuja y dibuja...y no te preocupes por ello!
Butterfly I
Just around our garden here in Boquete there are many beautiful butterflies. If you stay still for a few minutes with your camera ready, it's possible to take pictures of them on different flowers. I painted this pastel last week, from one of those pictures.
I'd like to recommend the book How Art Made The World, by Nigel Spiney. He says "everyone is an artist", since we were able to walk on two feet. Our hands were freed to carry weapons, tools, and make art. When Pablo Picasso first visited the Lascaux caves in 1941 said: "We have learned nothing".

Along the Road in Panama
Wassily Kandinsky, in his philosophical work Point and Line to Plane, says : "Fear arises from ignorance". He explains that architecture is bound up with utility, while music serves no practical purpose. These two opposite forms of art expression have a scientific basis about which nobody seems to feel offended. Then he says that PAINTING has only been freed from practical meaning and liberated from the necessity of responding to the many purposes it had earlier in the last one hundred years. Theoretically, he insists, a work of art can, in its final analysis, consist of a point. And a line, is the track made by a moving point.

Wassily Kandinsky, in his book Point and Line to Plane , expressed his belief that knowledge is not needed for the layman to enjoy a work of art, a poem, or a musical composition. He likes it or dislikes it, like a sunset, or a flower. These are simply there to be enjoyed. Kandinsky was not only a painter and a scientist, but also a prophet of almost religious significance.

"The painter is the master of all kinds of things. If the painter wants to see and represent things beautiful enought to create love, she can do it, if the painter wants to see and represent monstrous things to create fear, or clowns to make you laugh, or to inspire pity, anything she wants, she can create, she's their master and goddess" Leonardo da Vinci
