I've read that digital art is making a strong push into fine art, for many years the domain of oil, watercolor, acrylic paint, pastels, and canvas and paper. Now digitation is here to stay. Here I am, using a blog, but paper and paints will not disappear, they are too much fun!! He leido que el arte digital esta avanzando fuertemente hacia las bellas artes, que fue por muchos anos el dominio exclusivo del oleo, acuarela, acrilico y pastels, telas y papel. Ahora las computadores estan aqui para quedarse. Pues veanme, usando un Blog, pero papel y pinturas no desapareceran, son demasiado divertidos!

In the summer of 2009 I spent a week in Salamanca, Spain, volunteering as English teacher to Spanish executives. The company paid my hotel, I had a great time, got to know and paint Salamanca. It is a beautiful city, with a lot of history and art. I strongly recommend visiting Salamanca in your next trip to Spain. You won't regret it! En el verano de 2009 pase una semana en Salamanca, Espana, como profesora de ingles voluntaria a ejecutivos espanoles. La compania pagaba mi hotel, lo pase muy bien, conoci y pinte Salamanca. Es una ciudad preciosa, con mucha historia y arte. Recomiendo fuertemente visitar Salamanca en tu proximo viaje a Espana. No lo lamentaras!

Somebody once said about watercolor: "When you get past the technique, what's left? Nostalgia?" I don't believe you EVER get past the technique of watercolor. There is always something new to try, a different approach, a different use of the colors, different surface, additives, combinations.

Composition is the greatest challenge, because we need to make choices with wisdom and knowledge. Yet creativity is not logic but intuitive. Aristotle said: Art is not representing exterior appearance, but its interior significance. La composicion es el mayor desafio, porque debemos tomar decisiones con sabiduria y conocimiento. Sin embargo la creatividad no es logica, sino intuitiva. Aristoteles ha dicho: Arte no es la representacion de la apariencia exterior, sino la de su significado interior.

A little painting from my watercolor journal, painted in Marbella, Spain, which got selected for exhibition at the San Diego Watercolor Society in January 2007. Esta pequena acuarela de mi diario de pinturas fue pintada en Marbella, Espana, y fue seleccionada para exhibicion en la San Diego Watercolor Society en enero del 2007.

We must have an open spirit to discover new things. A good artist has the need to innovate, to go a bit farther, not just repeating what has already been done. Try something new, say something different, push the limits! Debemos tener el espirito abierto para descubrir cosas nuevas. Una buena artista tiene necesidad de innovar, de ir un poco mas alla, no de repetir lo que ya ha sido hecho. Trata algo nuevo, di algo diferente, empuja los limites!

Fragment of Time

Fragment of Time, watercolor, 8x10" (20x25 cm.) This watercolor has a lot of emotion. I painted it a couple of years ago from a small and very old photograph of my parents when I was a little girl. Esta acuarela tiene mucha emocion. La pinte hace un par de anos, basandome en una viejisima y pequena fotografia de mis padres cuando yo era nina.


Time is all we have. Let's use it well and enjoy every moment of our lives. Use your time any way you want, but it makes no sense to "kill time", it will kill us. El tiempo es lo unico que tenemos. Usemoslo bien y disfrutemos de cada momento de nuestras vidas. Usa tu tiempo como quieras, pero no tiene sentido "matar el tiempo", el nos matara a nosotros.
