My advice today: Take a chance, enroll in a class, enter a contest, propose a show, set up an easel outside. No one has the same talent as you do. Start with simple shapes.  Woody Allen has said: "Eighty percent of success is showing up."

Mi consejo hoy: Toma un riesgo, registrate en una clase, entra a un concurso, haz una propuesta para una exhibicion, instala tu caballete al aire libre. Nadie tiene el  mismo talento que tu. Comienza con formas simples. Woody Allen ha dicho: "Ochenta por ciento del exito es aparecer en escena."

You are invited! I had seem somebody work on book covers last year, but had no idea how he did it. I love challenges, and discovery, so I bought many interesting old book covers, to have a choice, and started playing with them, using some of the words on the cover as inspiration. If you could see this painting close, you'd be able to read the word "soleil" (sun) on the cover.

La recepcion es el jueves 1 de setiembre, a las 6:30 de la tarde. Estais invitados! El ano pasado vi a alguien trabajar sobre cubiertas de libros, pero no tenia idea como lo hacia. Me encantan los desafios, y el descubrimiento, asi que me compre muchas cubiertas de libros antiguos interesantes, para poder elegir, y comenze a jugar con ellas, utilizando las palabras grabadas como inspiracion. Si pudieras ver esta pintura de cerca, verias que se puede leer la palabra "soleil" (sol) en la cubierta.

Going Home

I recently saw an exhibition of pastel paintings by Cayetano de Arquer Buigas, in Tarbes, France.  Beautiful pastels, he has a wide range of themes, but his favorite topic is the female figure, particularly the neck and back. He doesn't want to belong to any special movement, he likes to paint the times we live, as he feels it.
Going Home, (de regreso a casa) pastel, disponible. Hace poco vi una exhibicion de pinturas en pastel de Cayetano de Arquer Buigas, en Tarbes, France. Hermosisimos pasteles, el tiene una variedad de temas, pero uno de sus favoritos es la figura femenina, particularmente el cuello y la espalda. El dice que no quiere pertenecer a ningun movimiento, le gusta pintar los tiempos que vivimos, como el lo siente.

Robert Frost, in The Road Not Taken, hints at both, the limitations and opportunities created by choosing one path over another.  Art is the beginning of a vision and the artist is clairvoyant. I've read of other artists who feel like me: when you open your tubes of paint and pick up your brushes, the painting is already done in my mind's eye.

Robert Frost, en su libro "El Camino No Tomado", nos habla de las limitaciones y las oportunidades de elegir un camino sobre otro. Arte es el principio de una vision y el artista es visionario. He leido de otros artistas que sienten como yo: cuando abres los tubos de pintura y levantas tu pincel, la pintura ya esta hecha en tu mente.

Fuente de Carinena, Espana

Fuente de Carinena, Espana. watercolor, 6x4 in. =15x10 cm. Available: $ 60 US = 40 Euros. Painted on location, sitting outside at a bar with my friend Mireille drinking a lemonade, while some guys inside the bar watching us, sent us word with the waitress that they were inviting us to a glass of wine. To know if we accepted or not, you'll have to buy the painting! This is THE FAMOUS FOUNTAIN, which normally carries water, but for the Fiesta de la Vendimia in Carinena, every year, and this coming weekend, it will be flowing with wine.
Fuente de Carinena, Espana, acuarela, disponible: 60 US dolares = 40 Euros. Pintada en el lugar, sentada afuera en un bar con mi amiga Mireille bebiendo una limonada, mientras unos tipos adentro del bar nos miraban, y nos enviaron una invitacion con la moza, a una copa de vino. Para saber si aceptamos o no, tendras que comprar la pintura! Esta es LA FUENTE famosa, que normalmente lleva agua, pero para la Fiesta de la Vendimia en Carinena, todos los anos y este fin de semana proximo, estara vertiendo vino.

Painted last Saturday on location in Aguaron, plein air. It is now hanging at the Museo Marin Bosqued, in Aguaron, south of Zaragoza, Spain. This is a charming town, friendly people, excellent wine with my name: San Valero!
