INTROSPECTION, 36x36" acrylic on canvas.
Day 4 of the Challenge. I did not paint this today, it took me a couple of weeks. It is the first time I share this painting in my blog. Enjoy! It is one of the 36x36" paintings for my solo show TRANSITIONS, taking place in February at The Glashaus Main Space Gallery, in San Diego, California.

KIWI, drought tolerant fruit, acrylic on canvas, 14x14. This is the fifth painting I share, of the six paintings I did for the Drought Tolerant Plants and Fruits Convention at the Jacobs Center, in San Diego, California, a couple of weeks ago.

Only one left from my small group of six paintings. There are several more drought tolerant fruits. So.....can you guess which one I painted as the sixth in the series? PRICKLY PEAR, acrylic on canvas, 14x14 in.  One of six paintings for the exhibition at the DROUGHT TOLERANT PLANTS AND FRUITS, in August, at the Jacobs Center, San Diego, CA.
Bears love these fruits. My friends in Claremont, near Los Angeles, who have lots of prickly pear trees in their backyard, report bears coming down the Los Angeles mountains and filling up on them.

Lo Importante es el Camino, acrylic on canvas

Lo Importante es el Camino, acrylic on canvas, 81x81cm. Painted plein air in the town of Fromista, Spain, last summer, and exhibited in Fromista's gallery.  This is the Church of Fromista, which is in the center of town. For this painting, I included a couple of views around town, on the left, we see the Pyrenees mountains from where hundred of pilgrims come following the path "camino" of Santiago de Compostela, and under the church I placed the small river that runs nearby. A good section of the road is along that lovely river. Fromista is one of the key towns along the road to Santiago de Compostela. The interesting fact about this pilmigrage, is that it was started for religious reasons, but today people of all faiths, and people of no faith, do it as an exploration of themselves, as a trip within. The path is what's important, really, not the arrival.

I've just finished a book about Hungarian Decorative Folk Art: Although each district in Hungary has some distinctive traits, in general the designs are mainly floral, and birds are very popular, too. The typical colors are different shades of red, and they seem to avoid yellow and purple. Strength, definition, a lively fantasy characterize Hungarian folk art. More on art in Hungary coming up soon, as I am brushing up on the Fine Arts in Hungary in the next few months, in preparation for an Artist Residency in Hungary this summer.
