JUNE LAKE LIBRARY, ink and watercolor sketch

JUNE LAKE LIBRARY, ink and watercolor sketch in my sketchbook.
Spending time in the town of June Lake, in northern California, I visited the enchanting thrift shop and the library. The librarian, a lovely lady called Vanisia, was very friendly and welcoming. We talked about watercoloring, sketching, and how you comcentrate and pay so much more attention to details when you have to draw something, than when you are just looking.

Truth

Truth, mixed technique: acrylic, oil, stamp with the word in Chinese character, on an ancient book-cover. 28x40cm., available: 230Euros= $345 US.
This painting is part of the series "Old Books", part of the exhibit: "De l'Emotion `a l'Image", at this moment at the Bibliotheque Municipal de Cauterets, France. Since this exhibit would take place in a library, I thought using old cloth book-covers as support would make sense, following the saying: "Old books are always good, because only the good ones become old." Today's posting is  from Fromista, Spain!

Chantilly is a town 30 km. north of Paris. Chantilly is famous for the beautiful castle, the immense surrounding forest, the horses, and the cream. I painted this little postcard size watercolor sitting on the grass in front of the castle, a couple of days ago. The castle started as a fortress in the early Middle Ages, and has been added to and destroyed a few times since, just till the late 1800 when the Duc d'Aumale had what we see today built, decorated, and prepared to house his extensive collection of paintings and ancient books. The library and the art galleries are magnificent.
