Domenicos Theotocopoulos was born in Crete, he painted. He left his island for Venice, where he started working with Tiziano. There, he was discovered by a Spanish priest, Nino de Guevara. Years later, Domenico went to Madrid, where he was called "El Greco". He fell in love with Jeronima de las Cuevas, and the couple settled in Toledo, where El Greco had much success as an artist. His old friend Nino de Guevara was now the Gran Inquisitor, which caused much trouble in their relationship, due to the great disgust El Greco felt for the Inquisitor's work. El Greco had been warned many years before by his master Tiziano: "Never show too much what you can do. You won't be forgiven". Did he listen?
