Puerta de Jerez, Sevilla, postcard size watercolor.Frances Hodgkins (1869-1947), born in New Zealand, spent a lot of time travelling between her native country and England, and transmitting her work from one to the other. She wrote in 1921: "My great panacea is change of environment. It gives one a fresh impulse and new courage and heart." At 76, she was called: " The Grand Old Lady of British Painting". She died at 78. New Zealand posthumously heralded her as the foremost artist of the early XXth C. She has also said: "I'm not to be trusted in a railway station...the longing to board the train and be off is irresistible."

Ella escribio en 1921: "My mejor remedio es un cambio de ambiente. Me da nuevos impulsos, valor y energia. " A los 76 anos fue llamada: "la Gran Senora de la Pintura Britanica". Murio a los 78 anos. Nueva Zelandia la califico como la mejor artista del principio del siglo XX, despues que habia muerto. Ella tambien ha dicho: "No se me puede dejar sola en una estacion de trenes....el deseo de subirme a un tren y partir es irresistible."
