Fuente de Burgos

Fuente de Burgos, Spain.  watercolor, 10x15cm. (4x6") available: 40 Euros, = $55US. Painted plein-air on location.
Burgos is a beautiful town in the north of Spain, where I was last week for a few days. This water fountain by the river and park dances, changing constantly, surprising the passers by. At night, the lights dance in unison with the waters. A modern building with details in red behind gives a good color contrast.

Burgos es una ciudad preciosa en el norte de Espana, donde estuve unos dias la semana pasada. Esta fuente al lado del rio y sus parques baila, cambiando constantemente, sorprendiendo a los que pasan a su lado. De noche, las luces danzan junto con las aguas. Un edificio moderno con toques en rojo detras da un buen contraste de colores.

La aplicacion exitosa de estos elements permite que el trabajo manifieste conceptos visuales llamados: Principios del Diseno. Philip Ball, in "The Invention of Color", describes beautifully how much Science there is in ART, and how much Art in SCIENCE. Very interesting en engaging book.
Eye of the Stone, tecnica mixta. Disponible. En exhibicion en este momento en la Biblioteca de Cauterets, Francia, una de las pinturas de la exposicion individual: "De la Emocion a la Imagen", 1setiembre-7octubre 2011.  Philip Ball, en su libro "La Invencion del Color", describe hermosamenete cuanto hay de Ciencia en el ARTE, y cuanto arte hay en la CIENCIA. Un libro muy interesante.

Chloe

Chloe, pastel, 64x45cm. Sold. This painting is in exhibition at the Bibliotheque Municipale de Cauterets, France,  for a few days. Little Chloe posed for me/played with her father, while I took pictures of her. It was a commission from her grandmother. When I showed the painting half-way to her grandmother for approval, I learned that Chloe has a genetic disease. I finished the painting with my heart, more than my fingers, directing the pastel chalks.

Chloe, pastel. Vendida. Esta pintura esta en exhibicion en la Biblioteca Municipal de Cauterets, Francia, por unos dias. La pequena Chloe poso para mi/jugaba con su papa, mientras yo tomaba fotos de ella. Era un pedido/comision de su abuela. Cuando le mostre la pintura a medio terminar a su abuela para aprobacion, aprendi que Chloe tiene una enfermedad genetica. Termine la pintura con mi corazon, mas que mis dedos, dirigiendo los bastoncillos de pastel.

Truth

This painting is part of the series "Old Books", part of the exhibit: "De l'Emotion `a l'Image", at this moment at the Bibliotheque Municipal de Cauterets, France. Since this exhibit would take place in a library, I thought using old cloth book-covers as support would make sense, following the saying: "Old books are always good, because only the good ones become old." Today's posting is  from Fromista, Spain!

Truth, (Verdad) tecnica mixta: acrilico, oleo, sello con la palabra en caracter chino, sobre cubierta de libro antiguo. Disponible: 230 Euros.

Esta pintura es parte de la serie: "Viejos Libros", parte de la exhibicion: "De l'Emotion `a l'Image", en este momento en exhibicion en la Bibliotheque Municipal de Cauterets, Francia. Puesto que esta exhibicion tendria lugar en una biblioteca, pense que usar cubiertas en tela de libros antiguos como base seria logico, de acuerdo al dicho: "Los libros viejos son todos buenos, porque solo los buenos llegan a viejos." Esta publicacion de hoy es desde Fromista, Espana!
