Isabel Sanchez Quevedo, writer about Goya, reminds us that we often look at a painting from a technical point of view forgetting the historical and cultural circumstances that surround every artist's life and that condition her or his work. During the XVIIIth C. Europe, there was a strong interest for popular themes. Goya was greatly impacted by Velazquez, but he truly believed that every artist should be original, he knew he was so, and the effect he wanted to achieve.

Durante el siglo XVIII en Europa, habia un profundo interes por temas populares. Goya fue influenciado por la obra de Velazquez, pero el creia que cada artista debia ser original, el sabia que lo era, y el efecto que queria alcanzar.
