The Eye of the Stone, acrylic on paper, 24x19" (60x47cm.)I show my struggle, in opposition to classical art, where everything has pristine effect. In contemporary art you want to show the struggle. I like to see behind the curtain, to see the process. There is some writing crossed out in this painting, which is all about struggle and pain. After recuperating from passing a kidney stone earlier this year, I made two paintings about this event, "Falling Stones", (Juror's Commendation Award, SDWS March 2010) and this one, "Eye of the Stone".
Yo muestro mi lucha, en oposicion al arte clasico, donde todo se ver limpio y perfecto. En el arte contemporaneo uno quiere mostrar la lucha. Me gusta ver detras de la cortina, ver el proceso. Hay algo escrito y tachado en esta pintura, que se trata de lucha y dolor. Luego de recuperarme de pasar una piedra renal al principio de este ano, hize dos pinturas acerca de este evento, "Falling Stones" (gano el premio Juror's Commendation en la SDWS, marzo 2010) y esta: Eye of the Stone.
