When we took the cruise in November-December 2009, we stopped in Dakar, Senegal. The poverty of the city struck me. Dakar is the most westernly point in Africa. The most important ethnic groups are the Wolof, the Fulani, and the Seret peoples, who account for about 70% of today's population. I took many pictures, and painted some. Here it is from my journal:
