Sam's sister in Paris

Sam's sister in Paris, watercolor, 7x5" (17x12 cm.) In May 2009, I was sitting in the Trocadero Gardens in Paris quietly sketching and painting small watercolors, when this young man approached me and asked me if I could paint a portrait of his sister with the Eiffel Tower behind her. I agreed and this is the watercolor he happily took home with him.

A month or so ago I visited the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden, Germany, due to their special Joan Miro exhibit. I wonder how much he must have enjoyed painting his "oiseaus", birds, and his "etoiles", stars. Some other fun paintings of him are his "Catalan man playing the guitar", and "Le Gentleman", which is really funny with the word "Yes" in the painting, which makes the man really English speaking, and not a "senor" or a "Monsieur". Most of his abstracts have short titles, like "painting" for example, except one whose title is: "The serpent of poppies training on a violete champ peopled with lizards in mourning." Now that is creative!
