Viva la Fiesta

Viva la Fiesta, watercolor 12x16" (30x40cm.)

When I was in Seville, Spain, last month, I visited a permanent exhibit at the Casa de la Provincia: "San Eloy's Printing Press", acquired from the artist Joaquin Saenz en 1992. His use of chiaroscuros Velazquez' style, with a little window or ray of light behind, or in a corner, very nice, because the theme is totally different from Velazaquez. He painted an old printing press where he and his family used to work. He painted the details of papers nailed to a wall, an old desk, marks and scars, office tools. Beautiful oils of this place where his family worked. There was authenticity, good composition, and technical quality. I strongly recommend to visit the Joaquin Saenz Room at the Casa de la Provincia in your journey by Sevilla. Excellent!
Excelente!
