Bagneres de Bigorre, park

Bagneres de Bigorre, (France) park. inkwash, 4x6" (10x15 cm.)

I've finished reading TWO LIVES: A MEMOIR, by Vikram Seth. Mr. Seth is from India, and he tells the story of his uncle and aunt, in London, during the end of the second world war. His uncle, a dentist, had lost his right arm during the war. He survived a bombing, but now has to learn to live with his handicap, and to make a living "as is". His aunt is a Jewish German lady, much taller than her husband who has to live with the weight of the loss of her family in concentration camps. This "odd couple" love and care for each other. Mr. Seth's style is poetic and interesting. Two lives intertwined in the fabric of two different cultures and a world war.
